Backpacking Clothing Reviews

Below are some of my “Top Picks” for backpacking clothing.

Head Gear

Best Hiking Hat

I am a big fan of brim hats because of the sun protection they offer and the Sentinel Brim hat by Outdoor Research seems to have it all. Features included Insect and UV protection, mesh vents, and light weight material

Shirt

Under Armour Long Sleeve Crew

The White Under Armour Long Sleeve Fitted Crew is my favorite top when hiking in hot weather. It keeps you much cooler than a T-shirt and you don’t have to worry about getting sunburned on your arms.

Pants

Best Hiking Pants

I am a big fan of lightweight convertible pants in general, but I specifically like the Columbia Men’s Convertible Pants for their UV and insect protection.

Socks

Best Hiking Sock

Injinji socks contain moisture wicking NuWool, but the only thing most people notice are the toes. However, give it about half an hour and you won’t notice the seamless material between you toes. Besides they are the only socks that work with my favorite hiking shoes…

Footwear

Okay, so they look pretty funky, but they must grow on you because I thought the same thing at first but now love these shoes. They give you extreme traction and protection while still allowing your feet to move the way they were designed to move. For more information see my blog post on the subject.

Jacket

Best Hiking Jacket

North Face Jackets not only look great but they feel great and keep you warm. I especially like the Apex Bionic jacket and how it stops windchill dead in its tracks.
